Listen: Early Baroque Recordings

When we enter the Baroque period, not only does the music begin to sound more familiar, but it also begins to expand quickly into many more recordings. In these lists of recordings, there is always a good bit of subjectivity: although I have listened to a lot of music, there’s a lot more that I haven’t listened to. I will therefore lean on what I know since I feel good about recommending it, but it’s certainly not the final word in music recommendations.
The other challenge that we begin to face in the Baroque era is that there are a lot of different recordings for every piece, sometimes hundreds. Of course, there are also hundreds of different pieces. If you are looking for something that you can’t find here, just ask us about it in the Music group and we’ll try to get back to you with an additional recommendation.
