The quickest way to access a world of music is through a streaming service. There are services dedicated to classical music, like Naxos Music Library, but the best popular services (Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Amazon Music) have regularly added classical music to their popular music catalog.

To get the most out of this course, I recommend either a Spotify or Apple Music account. We’ve created playlists for each lesson on both of those services. It will be easy to follow along with the music you are learning, and you can import the playlists to your own account and use them as the basis for playlists of your own as you find works that you enjoy.

Apple Music

  • From the Apple Music homepage, you can create an Apple ID or login with an existing one.
  • Visit Compass Classroom’s public profile, where you will find all the playlists we’ve created. Click the Follow on Music button so you will be notified of any updates or new playlists.
  • If you are using a desktop or laptop computer, you can use the Apple Music web player, but we recommend the dedicated app for a better user experience. Apple’s Music app is built into macOS (you can still grab iTunes for earlier macOS versions, and it is available for Windows download or at the Microsoft Store.
  • If you are using a mobile device, find the Music app on your respective app store (Apple | Google Play).
