This is not a complete course. It is a single lesson for demonstration purposes.

Compass Classroom is exploring the possibility of filming a math series, starting with Algebra I.

As always, we value very highly the input of our current customers and the broader homeschool audience. Since every homeschooling family has experience teaching math or using math curriculum, every family has opinions on what a math course should be and do.

We invite you to explore this lesson and tell us what you think. You can do that in one of two ways:

Algebra I would be considered Year 1 in a high-school math series. We are planning to include the following:

  • 30 units, approximately one per week
  • 3-5 short (under 20 minutes) videos per unit
  • Assignments
    • Refresh & Review – Begin each lesson with reinforcement of previous skills before the new concept is taught
    • A problem set to accompany every video
    • A Study Guide before every quiz in the same format; may be used as second quiz
    • Quiz at the end of every lesson
    • Mid-term and final exams
  • Teacher’s Guide with Scope & Sequence
  • Grading
    • Keys for each assignment that provide answers “in-place” for easy self-grading. View a side-by-side sample.
    • Online entry that allows students to input their answers and receive automatic scores.
    • Access to our Math Lab group, which provides a place for students to ask questions about exercises as they work.
