Age: 14+ High School Half Credit
This course meets the requirements of a high school civics or government class.
The class will meet weekly over Zoom on Thursdays, from 2:15 PM – 3:30 PM Central Standard Time. The format will be lectures and discussion each week.
Civics: American Government’s History and Structure is a discussion-based class that will study the American system of government by exploring the biblical basis for civics, a brief history of civil liberty, the English common law system, and America’s founding documents. Students will complete weekly readings and write answers to discussion questions for class. Students will also have an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of civics through occasional quizzes and a paper on a Supreme Court case at the end of the semester.

Assessment and Grading:
Dave Raymond will provide a suggested final grade based on submitted assignments and participation. Since this is a live homeschool course, the parent has the final authority and may use this grade as part of their student’s official transcript or records.
Course Format:
The course will consist of live Zoom meetings that will be added to the steps as recordings each week. Assigned readings and quizzes will also be available within the lessons.
