Books for This Class
The one book required for this course is Dr. Trueman’s Strange New World: How Thinkers and Activists Redefined Identity and Sparked the Sexual Revolution. You can purchase it in our store or from Crossway.org. Each lesson in the course depends on the corresponding chapter in the book.
If you want to add depth to the course, we recommend the optional textbook A History of Western Philosophy and Theology by Dr. John Frame. (Buy from Amazon | Look for used versions at Book Finder). It is used in some of the “Go Deeper” steps to develop the life and thought of particular philosophers mentioned in Dr. Trueman’s book.
Dr. Frame describes the purpose of his book in this way: “My whole idea is to expose the fact that the history of philosophy and theology is nothing less than spiritual warfare in the life of the mind.”
If you have taken our Philosophy: Consequences of Ideas course, you should have already bought this book. Now you can re-use it!
