Buy a Study Bible
This class will be an exploration of the theology, archeology, history, and other aspects of the OT. Although I may add an additional book to it, I want to teach you how to use a Study Bible. It will be easier if we are all working off the same notes and materials, so I recommend getting them the Zondervan NASB Study Bible (not the MacArthur version). This version uses older notes from a large group of 20th century scholars.
Unfortunately, the Bible was discontinued in 2023. There are still many used options available. Here it is on Amazon as Hardback or as Bonded Leather. You can also search Bookfinder for used copies. I’ve used this Bible for many years myself and find it to be the best balance of notes, accuracy, and size: study bibles can get too big pretty quickly.
If you are not able to find the NASB study bible, you can always buy a Zondervan NIV Study Bible (it generally has the same notes) or an ESV Study Bible (either a Student of the Full Size). The latter is a different translation and does not use the same approach to cross-references and other things, but is still a good option.
