Assignment Before Next Lesson
HOMEWORK
- Read AT LEAST the first 50 Pages of Tom Sawyer.
- For writing: if you do not have Writing and Rhetoric Book 9 yet, I will be sending pictures of the pages in another email. Since everyone has ordered a copy, and deliveries are so far running behind, I do not believe this to be breaking any copyright and am doing it in good faith. All required assignments for the week are in bold.
- Work through Lesson 2 in W&R. Here is a sample schedule:
Thursday – Read pp 13 – 18. Narration and Tell About It (optional) Look at writing instructions for a Descriptive Essay starting on page 27 (#4) so that you are familiar with the whole assignment this week. Start jotting down ideas or making an outline.
Friday – pp 21 – 25 Memoria, Writing Time, Conjunctions and Copiousness. These are optional, but doing a few for each section will be helpful for you in your writing. Begin your rough draft, following the Descriptive Essay instructions (#4, p. 27) and using the rubric (p. 32) to help guide you. There are also helpful hints at the bottom of p.33 – top of p.34
**Comparative Description on p.26 and Speak It on p. 30 are optional
Saturday – keep writing if you have time!
Monday – finish your rough draft. READ IT OUT LOUD. Make your own corrections, then give it to someone else to read and edit. Do proofreading practice on p. 34
Tuesday – type or write in neat handwriting your final draft.
