General Guidelines and Information

Mrs. Bonnie has chosen to ask students to read Modules 7 and 8 over the summer at their own leisure. In light of this, these two Modules will not be covered in the filmed classes. Mrs. Bonnie provides the study guides for the Modules under the “Weather and Summer Assignments” page. If you choose to spend time on these Modules during the school year, you can find the tests in the Solutions and Tests book. (See the “Book List” step for more information.)

Parents: you are responsible for helping your students correct all homework assignments and for recording the grades on the forms in the assignment guide. I hold students to a high standard, and generally find that they will rise to the level of expectation they encounter. The answer key is yours, not your student’s, and should not simply be given to your student at any time this year to correct his/her work if you have not first seen the answers given. Responsible students may correct OYOs completely on their own after the first module or two at your discretion, but you are still responsible for the final grade and for ensuring completion. You are still responsible for recording grades for these assignments and for certifying that they have been completed without the answer key and corrected only after their first answers were seen by you.

Experiment Summary Forms

Print the experiment summary forms at the beginning of the year and keep them in your notebook so they will be ready to use for in class experiments. Please note that the experiment summary forms are written in a landscape rather than portrait orientation, and some printers require that you set the orientation before printing.

Practice Tests

These are the tests in the Solutions and Tests book. Show your study guide and practice test answers to your parent. Discuss and correct using the answer key.

Vocabulary Words

Write down underlined vocabulary words (word-for-word) on note cards for flash card study. Write the word on one side and the definition on the other. Write all formulas on note cards to study. Put the module number and your name or initials in the upper right hand corner of each card (Example: Kookogey, 4). You may order the pre-printed cards from Knowledge Box Central or print from Quizlet.

“On Your Own” Problems (OYOs)

Students: check your OYO questions immediately after doing them (unless your parent directs otherwise). Correct if necessary. Many students prefer to correct answers in a different color so it is clear which answers are the corrections. Your grades should always be based on your corrected work.

Study Guide

Study guides are provided in the course materials. The answer key is in the Solutions and Tests book. Please note that the questions are ordered in a different way.

Tests

Tests will include material from written homework (mostly practice tests and study guides), but the questions will not be identical and the format may vary somewhat. Tests will be supervised by parents. Students can always use a calculator in a test. Please note that some module tests may be called “take-home tests.” This is because students of the live class completed these module tests at home.

Note-taking

Take notes while watching the video lectures.
