Hello! We recently had to install a new hard drive on our Mac, and the operating system is not recent enough for the latest version of iMovie. Is there another app you’d recommend us installing to do the film editing for this course? Thanks!

    Hi Brandy,

We have used both Blender and HitFilm, which are both free and really user friendly for beginning film editing. However, any editing software will do the trick for this course, so find one that your family finds easy to use.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

There should be a few ways to pull in an older version of iMovie since it’s probably the best option that’s free for Mac. Look at this link; it explains two possibilities. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8299452

I use the free version DaVinci Resolve, if that’s helpful.

Adobe Premiere Pro has worked wonders for me, it does take some time to adjust to (since I originally edited on iMovie) but I love Adobe’s interface and the tools that come with it.
